Why so many eyes?

⁸ And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,

“HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.” (Revelation 4:8)

The eye is the lamp of the body and in the New Heaven and Earth the Glory of God will illuminate it, shining out of darkness. These creatures are part of God’s Glory and wherever they are there is light.

²² “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. (Matthew 6:22)

²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. (Revelation 21:23)

⁶ For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)
