Why do I wear my wedding ring on my right hand?

Psalms 45 says “At your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Ecclesiastes says: A wise man’s heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the left.

And when Bathsheba went to King Solomon it specifies “and she sat on his right. (1 Kings 2:19)

However, traditionally the rings are worn on the left hand to my understanding because there was a scientific discovery during Roman times that a vein was located on the left fourth finger that led to the heart. It was later debunked, but the tradition stayed.

This confirmed my switch for two reasons:

  1. 1 Timothy 6:20-21 warns to avoid opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge” and the KJV translates “knowledge” as “science”
  2. Daniel received a prophecy concerning Rome that says their marriages would have difficulty “adhering to one another” (Daniel 2:43)

So if our tradition of wearing the ring on the left came from a scientific discovery from a country the Bible prophesied to have marriage problems, I will stick to a tradition that started in Genesis when Israel gave Ephraim and Manasseh their blessings.
