Planets part II

Previously we established that according to Scripture, planets are stars that have a different glory then their counterparts that burn.

What is the significance of this?

Angels are portrayed as stars by God in Job 38:7 when He speaks of laying the foundation of the earth and says

When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

And in Isaiah 14:12

“How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn!

Son here is spelled with an “o” and this passage is understood to be referencing Satan.

And Numbers 24:17 Balaam prophesies of Jesus

”I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; A star shall come forth from Jacob, A scepter shall rise from Israel,

But Malachi clarifies and says

“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; (Malachi 4:2)

And Zechariah confirms this prophecy of using the sun, spelled with the letter “u”, not “o”, in Luke 1:78 when he says

Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,

Speaking of Jesus.

So, is the sun a star?

According to Scripture, no. It is the greater light. And although we have learned that the sun closely resembles other stars, if we search the Scriptures, Jesus may have been an angel, but He is God.

One example of this would be Jacob wrestling. We know the man Jacob wrestled was God, but Hosea says concerning the incident,

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And in his maturity he contended with God. Yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed; (Hosea 12:3-4)

So although Jesus was or is considered an angel, He has been chosen as our Savior, once for all time, and He doesn’t have to die again and again. He existed in the form of God, but did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, so He emptied Himself taking the form of a bond-servant and being made in the likeness of man. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-11)

Therefore, searching for life on other planets is as futile as searching for another Savior. A planet has no glory, sitting in complete darkness reflecting light from the nearest star with glory to anyone not close enough to see it’s not theirs. And again, out of all the “stars,” the sun was the one chosen for us. And just like Jesus died once for all, I believe the galaxies were made just for us.

“And beware not to lit up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
