Who is Jesus – part III (the dragon)
53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. (John 6:53)
This statement eventually leads to communion, but what is the origin? The context Jesus spoke this was after He had walked on the sea;
19 Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. (John 6:19)
And had previously compared Himself to a serpent
14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; (John 3:14)
So the passage,
1In that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent,
With His fierce and great and mighty sword,
Even Leviathan the twisted serpent;
And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea. (Isaiah 27:1)
And,
14 You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness. (Psalm 74:14)
I believe were the origins that pointed to Jesus whose head was crushed at the cross,
30 They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head. (Matthew 27:30)
Because,
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— (Galatians 3:13)
