Facts versus truth
Around 3400 years ago the world leader at the time, Pharaoh, said,
“Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and besides, I will not let Israel go.” (Exodus 5:2)
About 1400 years later, the LORD sends Jesus, and Jesus says in John 7:28
He who sent Me is true
Later, Jesus testifies to Pilate and says,
For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” (John 18:37-38)
Jesus says God’s word is truth in John 17:17
Both Pharaoh and Pilate had access to facts but didn’t know truth. So,
Psalm 119:160 says
The sum of Your word is truth And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting
Isaiah 45:7 says
The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these.
And Lamentations 3:38 says
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High That both good and ill go forth?
So, what is the reality? Facts are based off evidence of what we think will always be the same. But the truth is that God doesn’t change (Hebrews 13:8) and the word says that He does whatever He wants in Psalm 115:3 and Daniel 4:35 which makes two witnesses.
This is why I believe in 1 Timothy 6:20-21 it says people professing science have gone astray from the faith because faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
And what does our faith say that God chose to do? Love the world. so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. And the Good News is that this is no longer something hoped for, He has performed it.
