Why Baptism?

During Moses’ ministry he was disobedient in giving water to the congregation the way God prescribed so he was denied entry to the promised land. (Numbers 20:12)

Before his death, God prophesied that He would send “a prophet like Moses” who would save His people. (Deuteronomy 18:18)

According to Exodus 2:10, Moses name means “Because I drew him out of the water”

So, when John began baptizing, or, pulling anyone who believed out of the water (Mark 1:5), he was prophesying that God was delivering the prophet like Moses and that this salvation would be available to anyone who accepted it. (Acts 2:39)
