Formerly called a seer

(Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he used to say, “Come, and let us go to the seer”; for he who is called a prophet now was formerly called a seer.) (1 Samuel 9:9)

Why did the Holy Spirit include this portion about the prophet formerly being called a seer? I believe it is to prepare us to look at the role something plays rather than what it is called to determine its place.

25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household! (Matthew 10:25)
