The sum of your word is truth
I once received a thought that it was okay for a Christian to have and use a crystal ball based on Scripture. I “received with readiness of mind” and asked where? I was taken here,
4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, (1 Peter 2:4)
“a crystal ball is a stone that comes to life and has been rejected by men because of a perversion of religion. But it is precious in the sight of God and He chooses it for his saints”
And,
15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. (Titus 1:15)
I have rejected this interpretation based on these verses.
9 “When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. (Deuteronomy 18:9)
It then goes on to list divination, witchcraft, interpreting omens, spells, and other occult practices.
And then,
18 Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. 19 And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. (Acts 19:18-20)
It is an assumption, but I believe it is safe to say some of the books they burned would have had information on using a crystal ball. If burning it was a sign that the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing, I will continue to stay within the limits God has given me.
160 The sum of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting. (Psalm 119:160)
