How does the name Joseph cryptically refer to the church?
Joseph is the name of the supposed father of Jesus. Jesus’ body is the church. In the book of Genesis, Joseph the patriarch has two sons, the older Manasseh, which means forgetful, and the younger Ephraim, which means fruitful. Ephraim the younger is blessed over the older. The church has two parts, the forgetful half and the fruitful half. Both families of Joseph feed the world during famine.
