Why do bad things happen to good people?
Jesus said that no one is good but God. The human heart is wicked and deceitful, who really knows how bad it is? And in life, the wicked is in the place of the righteous and the treacherous for the upright. Which is why mercy is better than judgment. Also it says, do not judge anyone before the time, when God will reveal the secrets. So as Jesus said, “Hear about the tower that fell? Worse will happen to you if you don’t repent!” and also,
13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. (Mark 10:18)
9 “The heart is more deceitful than all else
And is desperately sick;
Who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9)
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous,
And the treacherous is in the place of the upright. (Proverbs 21:18)
13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:13)
5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God. (1 Corinthians 4:5)
1Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate? 3 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:1-5)
