Word of God and Marijuana

Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; (Genesis 1:29)

So if marijuana, or cannabis-sativa, is a plant yielding seed, why do some people today say that it is not good to eat?

1 Timothy 4 gives an explanation:

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer. (1 Timothy 4:1-5)

However, Romans warn,

The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans 14:22-23)

So, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; but open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the unfortunate. (Philippians 2:12, Proverbs 31:8)

And the next verse in 1 Timothy explaining our current situation says

In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following. (1 Timothy 4:6)

• Jesus declared all foods clean back in Mark 7
• God directs Israel to give His offerings by fire at appointed times and calls it His food (Numbers 28:2)
• And when Solomon constructed the temple he said “So who am I, that I should build a house for Him, except to burn incense before Him? (2 Chronicles 2:6) And the literal translation of “to burn incense” is “offer up in smoke”
